"Relationship forms somewhere within the negative space between one another where nothing creates everything."
Inspired by Swiss design, which favors simplicity, legibility and objectivity I began exploring how form is not simply what something looks like. Rather, form is a collection of selected materials, a formation of sequence and it’s all about most importantly- relationship. Drawing upon the utopian ideals of the design movement, my sculpture suggests the possibility of positive change within the negative space and where its patina reflects the complexity and depth of the human spirit surfacing over time. My sculpture will live at Walden Pond, the home of Henry David Thoreau’s utopia, where it becomes one with nature.
